What is DNC scrub (TCPA / DNC scrub)?

Checking your phone list against the National Do Not Call Registry (and your own opt-out list) before you call or text. The TCPA sets the rules for calls and texts. This is general information, not legal advice.

Why it matters to an investor

Calling or texting people without checking the rules can be costly. A scrub compares your list with the National Do Not Call Registry and your own opt-out list before you dial.

How investors use it

  • Register to download the registry numbers for your area codes, or use a scrub service.
  • Keep a list of people who asked you to stop and honour it.
  • Read the TCPA and your state's rules, or ask an attorney. This is general information, not legal advice.

Questions

Does Do Not Call apply to letters?

No. It covers calls and texts. Mail has other rules in some states, such as for owners in foreclosure.

Does it apply to e-mail?

Not the registry. E-mail follows the CAN-SPAM Act.
