About Medina County's records

Medina County data comes from the Auditor's own GovernMax extracts, which it publishes as open downloads: owners, tax-bill addresses, values, this year's tax and balances, the Treasurer's delinquent list, dwellings, and every deed since 1987, plus four years of value and tax history. Delinquent means taxes still owed from an earlier year or a half the county has certified as past due; the delinquent list itself is refreshed only a few times a year. Deed types are not named in the county files; we decoded the common ones (warranty, quit claim, survivorship, sheriff's, trustee's, death affidavits) from the transfers themselves, and older or rare deeds show no type. City code-enforcement cases are not published by Medina, Brunswick or Wadsworth.

Ohio rules

How unpaid tax and foreclosure work in Ohio

Unpaid tax is certified delinquent after about a year; the county treasurer then forecloses through the court or the Board of Revision, and sheriff sales are held online. Some counties also sell tax lien certificates. The owner can pay the full amount until the court confirms the sheriff sale.

Mortgage foreclosures: judicial. Mortgage foreclosures go through the court of common pleas and end with an online sheriff sale.
