What is NCOA (National Change of Address)?

A US Postal Service database of change-of-address filings. Mailers run their list through NCOA so letters go to where the person lives now, which saves postage on mail that would not arrive.

Why it matters to an investor

People move. A letter to an old address is money lost. NCOA checks your list against the Postal Service's change-of-address records so you mail where the person lives now.

How investors use it

  • Run your mailing list through a licensed NCOA provider before a big mailing.
  • Do it before you pay for skip tracing, so you trace the right people.
  • Remember that a county tax record can be older than the owner's last move.

Questions

Can I run NCOA myself?

Only licensed companies can use the USPS data, so you use a mail house or a provider that has the licence.

Does LeadCounty run NCOA?

No. Export your list and run it with a licensed provider.
